Default Publishing Targets

Challenge:

If you need to set default publishing targets for all CAs – who don’t have admin users. I.e. all your publishing targets should come by default selected and they should be disabled. And yeah Admin can do anything.

Solution:

To achieve this functionality you no need to write single line of code . Sitecore Configuration is real gem for this!

1.  Open your Web.Config.

2. Search for “DefaultPublishingTargets“.

Pipe separated list of default publishing targets. Groups in this list will be pre-selected in the Publish dialog. e.g. Live|DR-Live

3. Here you can add all your publishing targets separated by pipe e.g. Live|DR-Live

4. That’s it!

Happy Publishing! 🙂

The CA should have write access to the Target Databases,it would not work if they do not have write access to the databases, or maybe atleast for me (Sitecore V 6.2 update dec)
